BIO

Marta Nowicka is a multidisciplinary visual artist whose work spans painting, experimental printmaking, and digital media.

Her primary practice focuses on creating abstract paintings and  hand-pulled prints through traditional and mixed printmaking techniques, including multilayered monotypes, collagraphs, carborundum prints, drypoint, and chine-collé. Marta’s compositions explore geometric and organic forms, movement, and the transformative processes of memory and nature.

She also engages in ongoing material experimentation, currently exploring the sculptural potential of polymer clay plates within printmaking—an evolving extension of her textural language.

Marta works intuitively across mediums, building layered abstract works that merge tactile processes with digital exploration. She also creates purely painted works in acrylic, watercolor, and digital media, depending on the emotional narrative of each piece.

Raised during the gray stillness of communist-era Poland, Marta developed an early longing for color and creative freedom. This longing now pulses through her art, where she explores the interplay between bold energy and subtle introspection. In 2019, she relocated to the United States, bringing with her a deep appreciation for resilience and human connection.

Living with a chronic hip condition for over 25 years has taught Marta to create from stillness and to find beauty in limitation. Her background as an intercultural coach informs her empathetic approach to artmaking—each piece is an invitation to pause, feel, and find solace.

Alongside her studio practice, Marta also supports women in life transitions through intuitive coaching that incorporates visual metaphors, her own abstract coaching cards, and gentle creative exploration. These methods mirror the reflective and expressive nature of her art, offering women a way to reconnect with their identity, inner strength, and dreams.

Marta is committed to empowering her audience through her art, aiming to evoke positive emotions, comfort, energy, and joy. She is especially passionate about inspiring women to follow their dreams, take action, and pursue their passions, just as she has done with her art. Her work has been exhibited in Europe and the U.S., including NYC, Miami, and Dallas, and is held in private collections across both continents.

Marta’s favorite artists include Cezanne, Kandinsky, Gauguin, cubists like Picasso and Braque, and American expressionists. Her use of vibrant and subdued colors, geometric forms, expressive brushstrokes, and intuitive process all contribute to a unique and dynamic body of work that resonates with the legacy of these great artists.

Beyond her personal practice, Marta actively contributes to the art community. She serves on the Members Committee at the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey, helping to organize exhibitions and programs that support fellow artists. Additionally, she has juried children's art competitions, nurturing young talent and encouraging creative expression from an early age.

She is a member of several printmaking organizations, including the Boston Printmakers, SAGA (Society of American Graphic Artists), and the Monotype Guild of New England.
